What is Tretinoin?

Tretinoin is an All-trans retinoic acid, a retinoid, that is commonly prescribed in dermatology for acne vulgaris, keratosis pilaris, rosacea and melasma. Tretinoin is a member of the retinoid class of medications, and it helps to control changes in skin cell growth.

It is extremely praised for the anti-illness aging effect on the face, and is deemed among the list of unexceptional skin redness maintenance systems too.

What is Tretinoin 0.05% Gel?

Tretinoin 0.05% gel is also used in dermatology for multiple purposes but predominantly to manage acne and for its antiaging and sun damage effects on the skin. There were three major use-cases for it:

How Tretinoin works is that it not only helps for treatment of the acne but also control them by preventing pore blockage and by promoting skin cell turnover, leading to better penetration of other medicine if used together.

  1. Anti-Aging: Promotes collagen production and cell turnover to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, rough texture and increase skin smoothness grateful for a brighter, more even complexion.
  2. Treatment for Hyperpigmentation: Tretinoin also helps lighten hyperpigmented skin areas, address age spots, and improve the overall uniformity of your skin tone.
  3. Repair of Sun Damage: Increases the skin cell renewal and helps to repair some forms of damage from the sun.
  4. Keratosis Pilaris: Though not its intended use, Tretinoin boosts cell turnover and bolsters the exfoliation of hair follicles to help manage keratosis pilaris (rough patches and small bumps caused by keratin accumulation).
  5. Production of Collagen: A further effect on the skin is that tretinoin also improves collagen synthesis, which firms the skin constructing a youthful appearance.

Results:

Tretinoin is something that will work, but good things do take time. You start to see certain improvements in such as acne etc; after 6-8 weeks, these are early changes. Noticeable results, some examples including reduced fine lines and more even skin tone, tend to be achieved in 3-6 months. Which basically means, it works best when you remember to use it regularly.

Guide on How to Apply Tretinoin?

While cleansing try using a slight wet cleaner for once so that all the dirt and makeup washes away properly, this is your first step towards your everyday beauty routine. After rinsing your face CLEANSING Remember, that the globalisation of the epidermis can also mean more acne.

Then, take one pea amount of Tretinoin on the whole face over the forehead, cheekbone sides, nose and mouth areas. After allowing Tretinoin to be absorbed in the skin, apply a moisturizing lotion to reduce dryness and peeling.

And sunscreen — you should always finish off on this, but with retinoids increasing your skin's sensitivity to sunburn even indoors or when it isn't so sunny out, a broad-spectrum SPF every morning is an absolute necessity.

There is a word of caution that you typically do not see with face products: start off slow to avoid irritation. Tretinoin is generally started 2-3 times a week and be increased as users become acclimated to the medication.

Who Should Not Use Tretinoin?
  • If you are pregnant or thinking of getting pregnant and while breastfeeding: Tretinoin is not recommended for use during pregnancy.
  • If You Have Sensitive Skin or Eczema: If you're the sort to have a reaction to nearly any active, a retinoid is probably not your friend. If you have these problems, make sure to consult a healthcare professional before beginning Tretinoin.

Sunburn or Open Wounds: Do not apply Tretinoin to sunburned skin, open wounds, or on areas with eczema flare-ups.
